National Voters' Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011, all across the country, to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e., January 25, 1950.The primary purpose of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters.


Dedicated to the country's voters, the day is utilized to spread awareness among voters and promote informed participation in the electoral process. New voters are felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in the NVD functions.

Voting rights enables people the right to question the government about issues and clarifications. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will virtually engage with first-time voters in 5,000 areas throughout India. The Namo Nav Matdata conference, organized by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth arm of BJP, hopes to get one million first-time voters aged between 18 and 25.

"The Namo Nav Matdata conference will be held today (Thursday) with 5,000 venues in India. Registrations have been made for youths to meet with Modiji. Many thousands of young people will have the opportunity to interact directly with Modiji today. It will be the PM's first interaction with first-time voters on this level.
